Storm Chaser Wannabe

My Mom looks at me today and still questions how and why I became so interested in storms.  It began when I was just a child in child care.  I remember playing on the monkey bars and looking at the sky from the very top.  I was so excited and began talking to my friends about the thunderstorms and the different types of clouds, the watches & warnings and all of the other exciting meteorologic stuff.

I was permanently enthralled once the movie Twister came out.  My Daddy bought me the movie and I watched it everyday after school.  I knew that I wanted to be a storm chaser and/or a meteorologist.

Still today I am fascinated.  I never ever ever want anyone to be hurt, injured or homes to be destroyed, but I love the thought of strong and massive nature that this Earth can create.  I get so excited when I see the rain and winds and dark clouds outside.  So of course my dream came true when I was able to meet with Ave Marie from WBAL TV 11 news a while back to work with her in the meteorology portion of the studio.  It was amazing looking at all of the equipment and radars first hand.

I run to the windows at work and at home when I hear the thunder and see the rain.  This picture was taken earlier this morning from work when we saw the rain pouring (we're expecting a lot of storms today).  So beautiful!

I prefer heavy storms instead of sprinkles.  It's more exciting and thrilling.  Weather will always be my passion.
