Former Blog: Polar Bear Plunge 2008

Polar Bear Plunge

On January 26h I particpated in the Polar Bear Plunge. It's a charitable event to raise money for the Special Olympics. In so many words you jump into the Chesapeake Bay in just your bathing suit. Well, I couldn't totally particpate. I ended up having a skin infection and my doctor wouldn't allow me to get my legs wet in fear that my bandages would get wet exposing the skin. So I went and did my own mini plunge (getting only my feet wet) because I raised over $400.00 and I was so excited about doing it. I still got my sweatshirt. The first picture shows me with the official plunge bear...he was so sweet. The other pictures show me "plunging". Man, was that water cold. And the final picture shows me and my mother-in-law with our "Hug-a-palooza" t-shirts. One of the DJ's from the radio station that Ryan and I listen to was trying to break the Guiness Book of World Records by hugging 1000 people in one hour. So I did particpate in that and got a t-shirt. By the way he got the 1000 hugs in only 34 minutes.
