My first seven days at the hospital (April 4th - April 11) were unproductive and so my doctor's decided to discharge me the morning of the 11th. That morning as they were removing my EEG wires I had a complex partial seizure A few hours later I had a grand mal seizure and was apparently unconscious and required oxygen and "bed-arrest" for 24 hours. I was not allowed to leave my bed in fear of falling or seizure. I remained in the hospital for 4 additional days and experienced two more additional complex partial seizures. Fortunately, because of the seizures I finally received a confirmation. I do have epilepsy and the seizures are coming from my left temporal lobe. This is why I am unable to speak during my seizures and why there are times when I begin stuttering and have issues remembering words and lack of vocabulary skills. Unfortunately, this will always remain. They placed me on new medication and I pray that this will work as if it doesn't there may be the possibility of brain surgery.
Here was my main source of strength during my hospital stay:
Here is Clara. Clara always brought smiles to the visitors. This little machine brought the medications to the different nursing stations. The hospital staff would always pass by and say hi to Clara and tap her on her "head". I thought it was neat, because every time she would pass by my room I would say "Hi Clara" and she would actually stop in front of my door for several seconds and when then proceed. This was the view from my room:
